Wench

Wench - Dolen Perkins-Valdez I hate hate hate.....love, love, love the ending!! This book is fantastic! I read it in about 4 hours! All I can say if you're not okay with honesty & controversy then you should not read this book. What I love is it shines a light on the untold story. Almost always you hear horror stories from slavery but always from the slave that escaped. Dolen tells you the riveting story of a beautiful slave women (Lizzie) who struggles to make sense of a rapidly changing world threatening to destroy the only “security” she knows. I cried, screamed & got angry with Lizzie but never can you truly blame her because deep inside your heart you wonder if that were you; how strong would you be yourself?
